Pack Perfect

1 Holiday packing is never the easiest thing. For me it always starts with desperately rummaging through my wardrobe and ripping out any item that resembles a summer item, then throwing them all over my bed trying to whittle them down and shove them into a tiny case, extremely stressful.  We all hate paying for extra luggage so we are forced to be extremely considerate when packing. In my opinion how dare airlines exploit us fashionistas and make us pay extra for wanting to have a different outfit for every possible occasion, who doesn’t want to look utterly fabulous on holiday?!

This process if never easy especially as 9 months of the year we salute the winter wardrobe, the summer one is never quite as easy to master for us Brits. However I have come up with a winning stratagey for over coming every packing hurdle, first off one must keep calm, cool and collected whilst attempting the packing process and possibly have a glass of proecco to hand  (or bottle) for troublesome moments.

Secondly I like to seperate all my clothes into catgories, simply seperate all tops, bottoms3 ( yes this includes seperating shorts from skirts and trousers from shorts) beachwear, shoes and  accesories in easily identifiable piles. The next task is to then delve further into the seperation system and identify what will be day wear, wether that be sight seeing, taking a trip to the beach, an excusion out to sea (on a yacht hopfully) , lunching in the marina and then evening wear in another separate pile. It is then the next task that is crucial, making wearble outfits out of your selections, this includes shoes and accessories. My tip is to make inter changeable outfits, always identifying key items that can be worn many ways, this will minimise over packing and leave room for bringing back new fabulous purchases!2

My two week trip to South Africa was quite a challenge to pack for, staying in Cape Town first where all the cool kids live, then off to hang with the super laid back beach bums in Durban, a safari on the sheduled, aswell as a trip up to the Drakensburg Mountains required a multitude of outfits and carful packing consideration. I followed each of my rules and managed to create the perfect capsule wardrobe for my trip all under the limit with extra space for SHOPPPINNNNGG!!! Have a peak at some of my capsule holiday wardrobe…..
