Darklight

As much as we enjoy our day jobs, once in a while we like to spread our wings and let the creative juices flow.

Recently I have styled and co art directed with Antonio Milevcic (www.milevcic.com) on DARKLIGHT, my first editorial in what seems like a life time. I loved this shoot, everything flowed together creating the atmosphere of a mystical midnight. Isabelle’s ashy hair help stimulate the idea of the moon and combined with the delicate facial decorations and soft highlight on her skin it really portrayed the illusion of a star filled moonlit sky.

The final images are a perfect result of the original inspiration. It started with an array of colours, blue tones mixed with ashy metallic greys which when looked at together it reminded me of the darkness and nighttime sky, with that in mind the rest of the shoot fell together. My original mood board (below) was full of different style ideas,shapes, colours and movements that I wanted to re-create and collaborate with the idea of the night.

We took different aspects from the mood board and worked with insane hair stylist Beth Lingwood and talented make up artist Olivia Chrane (Instagram Oliviacochrane) to create the overall look. The two worked together amazingly to carry through the flow and inspiration that myself and Antonio had wanted. The glowing make up and the intricate, heavy hairstyles complimented each other to create an enchanting finish. I managed to grab some behind the scene images of these two amazing ladies at work.

The final images are currently under wraps as they are being submitted for magazines but here’s a few sneaky unedited screen shots!! More will be posted!!
